ماهان در مقطع دبستان تحصیل می کند. او یک برادر بزرگتر از خود دارد که در هفت ماهگی متولد شده و مبتلا به بیماری اچ آی ای است.. پدر و مادر متارکه کرده اند و مادر سرپرستی دو فرزند خود را به عهده دارد. مادر به عنوان نیروی نظافتچی مشغول به کار است. آنها در یک منزل استیجاری زندگی می کنند و مادر برای تامین مخارج همه جانبه زندگی و درمان یک فرزند و تحصیل فرزند دیگر نیاز به حمایت مالی دارند.
